The trip of Jason
After Jason's father Aeson was dispossessed of the throne of Iolchus by Pelias, Jason was sent away to study under Chiron the Centaur. When later he returned to reclaim the throne, Pelias promised to give it to him if he would retrieve the golden fleece from Colchis at the other end of the world. To accomplish this task, Jason called upon all the heroes of Greece, the mighty generation before that of the Trojan War. Their journey on the Argo was a fantastic adventure, but for the ancients it was also a symbol of the great trouble that comes when men set sail on the sea in search of treasure in other lands.
